Posted by The big 544 pound fuselage kit box arrived on Friday! Got here 2 days after it left Van’s factory in Aurora, OR via Old Dominion. Local delivery driver was great. The box completely fills up the liftgate and it was a little tricky to get it off because the width of the box is about exactly the same width as the inside of the trailer.
The kit was ordered in May 2022 with an expected lead time of 12 months at the time, so it actually arrived a little earlier than expected!
Spent the weekend inventorying the parts. 14 pages of inventory. Just a small number of backordered parts. For the fastening hardware, I counted the more expensive bolts but not the smaller bolts, nuts or washers. If inventory is short it’s just easier to order more than to worry about if you’re 3 washers short of 300. I made sure I counted the fiberglass cabin cover. There was one of those. Perfect! That’s almost half the kit cost right there!
