It was a beautifully warm day in Livermore, so I thought it was time to get some practice with the tank sealant. I had bought a quart from Van’s in November, but it was already nearing its expiration date, I did not get the full shelf life 9 months but more like 3. I’m wondering if that’s why Van’s sells it for much cheaper than other places.
Anyway, tried my hand at the fuel filler flange. The smell was tolerable. But the stuff is so difficult to mix, even to just get off the damn spoons or stirring sticks. Didn’t have probelm applying it, but it does make things slippery (and messy).
So I’m going to have to wait for warmer weather (and a new batch of Proseal) before I continue work on the wing tanks. But I wanted to at least give it a try during this rare window of warm weather.
Also tried out my new fuel filler caps. Got nice aluminum ones to replace the plastic ones that came with the kit. Not a necessary purchase, just a nice little upgrade.
