Took a little break due to some significant milestones at work. Those are now past, still a lot of work of course, but I can get back to plane building. Top skins are on hold until I get some help riveting, lots of volunteers for a week or two out from now!
So decided to get a start on the wing leading edge parts prep. Not very exciting as of yet. Started fluting the ribs to get rid of the curves induced during the pressing process. Then cut a couple of J-channels to size and marked centerlines. Decided to fabricate a little guide out of scrap J-channel which made marking the centerline a piece of cake. Then a couple of ribs needed some notches cut out to fit on the front of the spars, so I did that for both sets of ribs. A reinforcement strip attached to the tank skins had to be detached, this will become the wingtip attachment strip. Finally, cut out a couple of wood cradle outlines that were pre-marked on the shipping crate.
Next steps will be to build the leading edge cradle, and debur all the parts.
