This log entry includes work done on both Sat Mar 26 and Sun Mar 27, 2022. The very time consuming “Section 14: Wing Ribs” is finally complete. It was surprising how long the final steps took, before this weekend I thought I was much closer to the finish line. The steps to wrap up:
- Riveting right ribs #13 and #14 (my labeling) to the spar, as I had not completed this with the other ribs
- Priming all the countersunk holes in the spar flanges
- Drilling and replacing a number of poorly set rivets. I am getting good at this π Much easier with the AD4s.
- Riveting a small number of AD3 rivets for 7 ribs on each wing, just the forward rivet of the forward tab, top and bottom.
- Installing the 24 bolts on each wing, two for each of the first 12 ribs. A large variety of bolt sizes, and I have no bolt length gauge, so there’s that. And then torquing them the right amount, which is surprisingly not that tight.
- Gooping on way too much torque seal on the nuts

I did take a stab at starting “Section 15: Rear Spar.” Quit a bit of time was spent trying to decipher how I had to deviate from the plans and apply service bulletin SB 16-03-28-1014 instead. Turns out this is basically a replacement assembly for step 2, so instead of building the bracket in the plans, the beefier bracket included in the SB Kit needs to be built instead.
