Started work on the horizontal stabilizer today. Time was spent on the very tedious task of deburring. I worked on both the front and rear spar as well as the thick doubler that attaches to each. The doublers were easy, as I can use my bench grinder with Scotch Brite wheel on them. The edges are very rough with several little punch nibs that need to be taken down. Got the doublers done and primed them.
The spars were much more time consuming. They are also very long (>11′). I first used a file to take down the “punch nibs,” followed by the Dremel with a sandpaper wheel, then by hand with a couple of smoother grits of sandpaper then a Scotch Brite pad.
All the holes were already final sized, but they got a light deburring as well on the “exit” side of the punch (both spars and doublers).
