Took it a little easy on the build this month so I could focus on preparing, interviewing and ultimately accepting a new job offer. I am moving from biotech to aerospace. I start on April 12th, and am switching gears from writing software to support enzyme engineering to writing ground control software to interact with satellites. Definitely a better fit for my interests.
Worked on some of the final riveting inside the aft portion of the tailcone. Not much room to work. Got the little rudder stop skin stiffeners riveted to the side skins, and in turn riveted to the rudder stop brace. A couple rivets (pictured) needed to be fixed/replaced (not pictured). There were a few other rivets inside the tailcone that I replaced, and this was a bit time-consuming.
Then it was onto the elevator bell crank assembly. Very easy and high quality result. It involved final drilling and deburring the thick aluminum pieces, priming them, then riveting them together with a flange bearing part.
