Today was spent finishing the small tailcone bulkhead F-1010 for final assembly.
First, I remade the F-1010A (Horizontal Stabilizer Attachment Angle) out of 1″x1″x1/8″ angle aluminum as this was another place that the plans don’t quite allow sufficient edge distance on the bolt holes, and any slight error in the wrong direction just exaggerates the problem. It was easy and cheap enough to remake (the replacement stock, btw, is $1.94!). I decided to make the part a little bigger than the measurements and just make sure there was enough clearance. This angle aluminum has to also be attached with a 1/8″ offset from the top of the F-1010 bulkhead piece. Happy to say I nailed that for a second time in a row.
Then it was just a matter of deburring the holes and all edges of the F-1010 bulkhead and doublers, and then preparing and priming.
