Tailcone Drilling

A lot of drilling today. All the final size drilling, that is still required, was done… on the new RV-10 kits, this is primarily along the longerons (all the stiffeners have already been match drilled). Plus some match drilling I had missed from a prior step (the flange of the last bulkhead). I accidentally missed that step because it was combined with a “final drill” step that wasn’t required due to the fact that my skins are final sized and the bulk of my bulkheads (nyuk, nyuk) are as well.

Then it was time to match drill the aft top skin (smallish triangular piece) to the longerons with a #30 drill bit.

In addition, a couple of pieces had to be fabricated from angle aluminum… those were done with favorable precision, and match drilled to the aft top skin and longerons or other support pieces.

Then the top skins were removed to prepare for subsequent steps.
