Posted by My replacement rudder skin arrived. I was wondering how they were going to ship it, expecting a flat box actually, but they rolled it up and packed it in a large box (along with some stiffeners I had ordered). The box was plenty big for the rudder skin, it was actually big enough for me! 😀
Took it out to the hangar after work and sprung it back to its flat shape. Peeled the vinyl along the rivet lines with my rounded soldering iron tip on the outer surface… this is a bit of a time consuming process, not sure if I’ll bother with it moving forward… and completely peeled it on the inside surface. Deburred and primed the inner surface. Was only going to prime along the rivet lines, but got carried away (there wasn’t much surface left actually).
