Forgot to prime the rudder spar yesterday, so did that.
Today I backriveted the stiffeners to the rudder skins. I started doing both skins, but only completed one. I made a silly mistake on one of the skins….. d’oh. Basically had to drill out a couple of rivets in a row, and did not practice that enough first… so either have to upsize to an “oops” rivet on those or bite the bullet and order a new skin ($44). I’m only kidding myself… an “oops” rivet won’t do, those dimples got pretty botched; new skin on the way!
The backriveting technique leaves very nice looking rivets. I didn’t use any special rivet tape to hold the rivets in place, I just used a “gentle hold” painter’s tape. Happy with the results on the unbotched skin 😉
